Industrial Magnets have become indispensable tools in many industries. In the manufacturing sector, these magnets serve as additional safety devices, although in some businesses, they are regarded as the primary vehicle through which products are manufactured under safe and acceptable standards.

However, just like other industrial equipment, a magnet can eventually suffer damages, and these can adversely affect their performance. The common reason for this is the overall condition of the workplace where extreme temperatures along with a generally harsh environment are known to exist.

In many instances, this can come in the form of erosion in magnet strength, although there are also instances when these tools can get knocked off against other similar tools or dropped accidentally while in the process of being cleaned.
In both cases, the magnets can suffer from wear and tear which can impact negatively on their holding force. This refers to the strength of the magnet to hold on to objects for a given period of time. When the holding force level is reduced in some ways, work in the production floor could ground to a halt, and this can subsequently affect production requirements.
How to test industrial magnets
In order to prevent such a scenario from taking place, several tests are usually performed. One of these involves a visual examination of the magnet where it will usually show that some metal types are getting bypassed. In this case, the magnet has apparently become weaker; thus, its inability to quickly identify metal items.
A better way to test magnet strength is the socalled pull test. As its name suggests, it will involve the magnet being required to pull an object with a weight corresponding to what it is expected to lift without difficulty. Failing the test indicates a problem in the holding force of the magnet.
Industrial Magnets are normally required to undergo such tests on a regular basis. This is particularly important for businesses engaged in manufacturing various products. Problematic magnets can only mean reduced production for them which is not a good way of doing business.
